American tenor Ryan Capozzo, praised by Opera News for “generating genuine drama,” continues to build an international presence across the United States and Europe. In the 2025–2026 season, he will appear as the Prince in Rusalka with Irish National Opera, Narraboth in Salome at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Dutch National Opera, Matteo in Arabella at the Metropolitan Opera, and Don José in Carmen at Seattle Opera. Additional engagements include covering Števa in Jenůfa and performing the Third Sentry in Parsifal at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as appearing as a concert soloist in Irish National Opera’s Viva Verdi, Viva Wagner.

In the 2024–2025 season, he appeared as the Prince in Rusalka at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and as the Voice of a Young Man in Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Metropolitan Opera. He also performed Albert Gregor in Janáček’s The Makropulos Affair with Scottish Opera. In the summer of 2024, he was a participant in both the Aix-en-Provence Académie and the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie.

In the 2023–2024 season at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, he performed the Steuermann in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer and covered Števa in Janáček’s Jenůfa and Howie Albert in Terence Blanchard’s Champion. He also made his European debut as Don José in Carmen at Schauspielhaus Zürich. In the 2022–2023 season, he appeared as Remendado in Carmen at the Lyric Opera of Chicago as a member of the Ryan Opera Center and was featured in the company’s Rising Stars concert. Additional engagements included the Berkshire Opera Festival spring concert To Paris with Love and participation in the Georg Solti Accademia in Italy.

He was a District Winner in South Carolina and a Second Place Winner in the Southeast Region of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition in 2022. Additional honors include the Windsor Encouragement Award from Vero Beach Opera’s Rising Stars Competition, semifinalist recognition in Annapolis Opera’s 2021 Vocal Competition, and the Briarcliff Music Scholarship.

Mr. Capozzo is a graduate of the Yale School of Music, where he earned a Master of Musical Arts and was awarded the Phyllis Curtin Career Entry Prize. He also holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the Purchase College Conservatory of Music.
